Golden Ideas

Do you find yourself coming up with the perfect idea for a business, technology, design, plot, or the like at an odd moment in your day then never do anything about it? Growing up I remember my father would get a cup of coffee at the drive thru, pull out his trusty swiss army knife and cut a whole in the top to drink from. He would then comment on how he should patent a perforated top that could be peeled back – uh, and he didn’t patent the idea why?

If I had a nickel for every idea I thought was golden but did nothing to pursue it for lack of time and money I would be writing this to you from my summer chateau in South France. So, this has me thinking there are probably thousands of other inventors and thinkers out there that, like me, if they had a quick means to get their ideas in front of other people with the possibility of bringing them to fruition, get some feedback, or at least get credit for the idea they would do so. And this is precisely what I propose to do.

I am not going into details but am currently researching patent laws, lawyers, etc. to get things rolling. I am floored by the idea to say the least and wonder what you, my fellow creatives think of the concept and if you too have ideas or inventions you carry around and would dig an outlet for them. What if, by submitting a great idea, you could get support, a patent, and maybe see it through to reality? I for one would make reviewing people’s ideas daily to add my 2 cents and to get me thinking.

To get things going I was thinking of categorizing things into areas such as Web apps, electronics, interfaces, movie plots, and physical tools. Users will be able to join groups of like-minded thinkers, subscribe to updates, etc.

Let us hear it

  1. That is a brilliant idea. Allowing an open-source marketplace for the introduction and development of ideas is something that will change the world works. As long as you can ensure the intellectual property rights are protected for the owner/s then I see no way the idea will fail.

  2. Fantastic idea, did you patent it yet? ;)

    Nathan Pitman

  3. This is a brilliant idea Jeremey.Interested to see what you come up with! :)

  4. My roommate and I come up with great web application ideas on almost a daily basis, but never find the time to follow through with them. I’ve always wanted to propose them to people, but my biggest concern is it ends up being the wrong person and they take it and run. Like Eric mentioned, if you can protect our intellectual property somehow I think it’d be a great success. Hope to hear more on this.

  5. ideas are coming only through the mental pressure. Basically our sub concious mind waiting for innovation. i think.
